Turkish- Iraqi border, 04-1991 Families carry their belongings in a mass exodus escaping the Iraqi army. Kurdish refugees from Northern Iraq arrive by foot at the Turkish border. Hundreds of thousands of families fled through the trecherous mountains to find safety from Iraqi persecution, camping in below 0 temperatures without food nor water. Tens of thousand people died over the next weeks and months of disease and malnutrition
